Medical tape can be a useful tool for many things. In general, it can be used to secure a bandage over a cut or scrape, but it can also be used in a more clinical setting to secure a wound dressing by placing strips on the outer edges of the dressing. In this same manner, ostomy skin barriers can be secured further and weartime extended by using waterproof medical tapes such as Hy-Tape. This practice keeps moisture out (if you go swimming) and also keeps the edges from rolling up on the skin barrier.
